I'm a big fattie that likes Dr.Pepper, but I'm smart enough to know that Dr.Pepper is NOT good for you and drinking it will NOT make me "Live Better". I also know that 1.25 for a little bottle of soda is highway robbery. Sorry, Mr. Vending Machine. I'm not putting my quarters in your belly today. And all because of that stupid remark. Yes, it's true. New York City apartments can really be like this. This apartment was a converted 2 bedroom with a bathtub in the kitchen living area. In case you are wondering what an apartment like this goes for, it's around $2500/mo!

The above split photo shows a restaurant (left) where we had dinner on their raised outdoor patio beside the Teplá River (where the photo was taken from), and the waitress (right) who served us.

The waitress had a poor command of English. To start, we ordered a beer, salad and two entrees. In addition, the waitress brought us bread, salt, pepper, and bottled steak sauce, chili sauce and vinegar. Normal things to bring before the salad and main dishes, right? Right.

We ate the bread including our ordered dishes. But, we never touched the condiments.

At the end of our mediocre meal (and because of another rip off dining experience back in Prague) we scrutinized the bill. To our surprise, the waitress charged us for the bread and condiments. It was around 10 CZK. Do we waste our energy and fight the added trivial charges? Or, do we send a stronger message by not leaving her a tip?

Since the 10% tip would have been more than the hidden charges, we paid the bill and didn't leave a tip.

A beautiful city to visit, however.
